Blending unique forms and materials, each one a purposefully made work of comfort.
At the heart of Artefilo lies The Architecture of Comfort — the belief that true comfort can only exist when it’s sustainable. Every object is designed as a real-life companion, crafted with care for those who love design, cherish upcycled materials, and respect the world they return to.
Its founder, Guido Baratta, brings over 30 years of experience in digital product design leadership across Europe and the United States. With a background in architecture and industrial design, Guido rekindled his creative passion by designing and 3D-printing unique artefacts that merge art and innovation with purpose. His work is celebrated for its joyful expression, minimalist simplicity, and the clever use of unconventional materials — seamlessly blending artistry with functionality.
Drawing inspiration from the Bauhaus pottery workshop and the Fris pottery tradition, which originated 75 years ago in the same historic city where Artefilo’s workshop stands today, Guido’s designs are deeply rooted in tradition while pushing the boundaries of modern creativity. Each creation is a unique piece, reflecting his dedication to design that is not only beautiful but functional and purposeful.
Guided by the principles of The Architecture of Comfort, Guido’s commitment to sustainability and circularity defines Artefilo’s mission. Passionate about the natural environment and mindful design, he focuses on minimizing waste and constantly exploring new organic materials. Every object is made to order, reducing excess and ensuring that each piece remains truly one of a kind.
Artefilo artefacts are primarily made from r-PLA (Recycled Polylactic Acid) and r-PETG (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol), both of which can be reclaimed up to six times — allowing for the regeneration of new products without adding waste to the world.
Experimenting with organic materials mixed into these foundational recycled filaments, Guido incorporates elements such as wood chips, soil, rice, grass, durum wheat, glass waste, coffee beans, wine residue, and seashells. Each blend is rigorously researched and sourced from 100% recycled materials traceable to suppliers within The Netherlands and the EU. This dedication to circular sourcing and thoughtful material experimentation results in truly sustainable works of art — each one a small, tangible piece of what comfort in design should look and feel like.
